UPDATE: Dannen was found Friday afternoon, in good spirits and suffering only minor injuries, Palm Springs Police said.

Palm Springs Police are still searching for a missing 75-year-old hiker from Oregon. Roger Dannen has been missing since Wednesday and police say they now consider the case “critical” and said that “all available efforts are underway” to locate Dannen.

Dannen and a friend began hiking Wednesday from the area of Highway 74 at the Cedar Springs Trail and were last in communication with each other at the Garnet Trail and or West Fork area, police said. During the hike, the two got separated but remained in constant contact with one another. At some point, that communication stopped and the two hikers were not able to find one another.

The friend hiking with Dannen notified police and the man’s family. The Palm Springs Police Department received the call at 5:55 PM on January 10th and began the search immediately following the call.

Aircraft resources from the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department have also been assisting with the search efforts.
