Family YMCA of the Desert and Q102.3 have joined forces to present a new golf tournament, Rocking for the Kids, set to take place at Indian Springs Golf Course on Saturday, December 16, 2017. The tournament, hosted by Valley resident Mickey Thomas of “Starship” fame, will include lunch, shotgun start at 12 noon, fun activities along the fairways, and an awards dinner at Big Rock Pub. Registration is open until December 13th and can be completed by calling Family YMCA of the Desert at (760) 341-9622.
Q102.3 station owner, Todd Marker, and Mickey Thomas conceived the event, as both were “Y kids” with a desire to give back to the local YMCA chapter, and thought this would be a great way to celebrate the YMCA’s 35th Anniversary in the Coachella Valley. The event includes a tri-tip lunch prepared by the locally renowned YMCA BBQ Team, on-course drinks, and a chance to win a car in the hole-in-one contest compliments of I-10 GMC. The awards dinner, complete with a silent auction and live entertainment, takes place immediately following the day of golf, hosted by Big Rock Pub. Registration is $150 per person and includes golf and the awards dinner. For those only interested in attending the after party and dinner, tickets are available for $75 per person, or $50 for guests of golf tournament participants.
Proceeds for the golf tournament directly benefit the childcare services at Family YMCA of the Desert who provides services to over 3,800 kids across the Coachella Valley every day at their 41 locations. More than 75% of the families in YMCA programs and childcare receive financial assistance, which is paid for with funds raised at events like this golf tournament.
Sponsors of Rocking for the Kids include Indian Springs Golf Club, Big Rock Pub, Family YMCA of the Desert, Q102.3 Classic Rock, and Marker Broadcasting.
