Thursday, June 21 | 8am – 10am — It’s the longest day of the year – the perfect date to celebrate the longest (tallest) species at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.
In the midst of a silent extinction, there are fewer than 98,000 giraffe in the wild. And, you are invited to #standtallforgiraffe and join the efforts to help #savethegiraffe!
World Giraffe Day, founded by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF), was established to celebrate these majestic animals as well as increase awareness and support of conservation efforts for all giraffes worldwide.
FREE Giraffe feedings will be offered from 8am – 11:30am during World Giraffe Day festivities, which also includes a 9am keeper chat. Visitors to The Living Desert are invited to learn more about giraffe and their plight through interactive activities such as learning about the danger of snares, giraffe biofacts, diet, and specific care procedures at The Living Desert. They will also learn about giraffe and threats to their populations and what they can do to help. The celebration also includes adoption specials, arts and crafts, a 20% discount on giraffe merchandise in the shops and more.
Wear your giraffe print and stand tall for giraffe!
